Human Resource Documents

Create useful (and compliant) HR documents consistent with your size and culture.

Carefully prepared HR documents help your employees to make good decisions, consistent with company goals and values. Protect your company and maximize your human resources by evaluating, updating, and/or developing the following important HR tools:

Employment Application

Your employment application provides an important first impression of your company and it helps you to comply with specific legal requirements. A carefully worded employment application protects your company as it seeks to identify information important to hiring the right person for the job.

Position Descriptions

We help you to identify primary duties and tasks, group them logically into positions, and determine the qualifications that are needed to successfully perform the essential functions. The resulting position description serves as the foundation for your hiring, training, performance appraisal, disciplinary, compensation, and termination decisions. It also helps you to accurately classify your positions as exempt or non-exempt, consistent with the Fair Labor Standards Act, as amended.

The position description lets your employees know what is expected and it helps you to hold them accountable for meeting those expectations. Our periodic review of your position descriptions enables you to update these expectations and ensure on-going compliance with related employment laws.

Employee Handbooks

Written simply and carefully, your handbook helps employees to understand your company's basic human resource practices, your expectations for work performance and conduct, and the basic benefits that you offer to them. Because of the potential liability associated with employee handbooks and other guidelines for employees, we will periodically review them to be sure that they conform to both legal requirements and company practices.

Performance Appraisal

Performance appraisal is more than a form. In order to guide employee behavior, you must first establish clear expectations for performance and communicate them to employees via the position description and other HR tools. Then, you must provide regular and consistent feedback regarding both good performance and areas needing improvement.

We help you to change that once-a-year ineffective performance appraisal meeting into an on-going mechanism that helps employees to do their best work, so they can more directly contribute to the success of your company. Click here for more information about Performance Management.

Supervisory Guidelines

Be sure that your supervisors are informed about key employment-related laws, how they apply to your workplace, and their specific responsibilities for communicating and implementing the associated workplace practices. We prepare a comprehensive, "how to" manual that is coordinated with your employee handbook.

We will also conduct a hands-on supervisory training program to help your supervisors better protect your company through the consistent application of employment practices.

Affirmative Action Plans

If you are a prime or first step federal contractor, you may be required to prepare annual Affirmation Action Plans. We conduct related analyses and prepare, update, and/or review your AAP consistent with OFCCP requirements. We also help your supervisors and managers to understand the basics of affirmative action planning and the implications of non-compliance.
